I totally did this just because I have never done it before, while lots of others do it every year, and I just thought it would be a perfect New Thing. As many know, I am at a stage of my life where I particularly do not care about politics or how campaigns are funded. Is the public funding option a good thing? I don't really know. It seems like it might be a good idea to take fundraising out of politics, but this does not seem to do that and I am not sure that anything could. Doing this for my New Thing is making me think about the issue, though, and thinking is almost always a good thing.
